Googleがついにノート作成アプリケーションであるGoogle Keepを公開した。但し、すぐに閉鎖されてしまった。しかし公開されていたほんの僅かの間に、Android Policeがスクリーンショットなどのデータを収集して記事にしている。Googleのスポークスマンは「コメントすることはない」としている。
Android Policeの記事によれば、Google Keepにはまず、Googleノートブックに似た印象を受けたとのこと。Googleノートブックもウェブからの情報をクリッピングして整理するなどの用途に利用されていた。しかし2009年1月にサービス停止となっている。とってかわったのがEvernoteだった（あっという間にGoogleノートブックからの移行ツールをリリースして利用者を拡大した）。ちなみにGoogle Keepが話題にのぼってくるのは初めてのことではない。昨年7月にもGoogle+におけるGoogleのオフィシャルアカウントから、誤って「Save to Google Keep」という文言の見える画像のついた記事を投稿してしまったのだ。
もし、Google Keepが本当に公式デビューを果たすことになれば、Evernote、Pocket、およびOnenoteなどと競合することになるわけだ。尚、他にも登場間近であると言われているアプリケーション（もちろんGoogle Readerはない）にはGoogle Play NewsやChrome版Google Nowの名前があがっている。
